9-11 September: Upington, Northern Cape, South Africa:
In Upington we were treated to very excellent hospitality by Dawie (friend that WR worked with on a farm in England) and his family. The highlight of our stay was a wine-tasting tour. Dawie took us to at Orange River wine cellars (who knew they made wine in the Northern Cape, and good wine, at that?!). We sampled lots, and purchased a mix-and-match box of six bottles from the cellar store, including some sherry and hanepoot, for the rock-bottom price of R150 (about $20), to take back to the folks in Murraysburg. On Wednesday evening we had a very fun night out for dinner and drinks at Dros.
